Since everyone's talking about 2017's eclipse at Charlie Brown's, hope this helps with planning!

Add signature to ASTRA posts

Chris,
The advice below might help you with the message board:

You can have your signature added automatically to your posts.

1) Go to astra-nj.org
Click on Message Boards
Click on any one of the following message boards:
Event & Observing Plans
Club News & Discussion Board
Observing Reports

2) Click on Login
Enter Username and Password
Click on Login

3) Go to the User Control Panel (the link is at the bottom right of the banner at the top of the page). Click on Profile. Click on Edit Signature to set up the signature you wish to use. Then select Board Preferences and then Edit Posting Defaults, and click the button to add your signature automatically. You also have the option of toggling the signature attachment in the check boxes below the message editing window.

From FAQ:
“How do I add a signature to my post?
To add a signature to a post you must first create one via your User Control Panel. Once created, you can check the Attach a signature box on the posting form to add your signature. You can also add a signature by default to all your posts by checking the appropriate radio button in your profile. If you do so, you can still prevent a signature being added to individual posts by un-checking the add signature box within the posting form.”
Add an attachment to an ASTRA post

How can I add a jpg file as an attachment to a post reply?
Donald Durett (Webmaster) wrote:
“Just above the area where you enter your posting, there is a row of
'buttons'. One of them is "Img". At the point in your posting that you want
to put the jpg picture click on this button and put the name of the file
that contains the image between the 'img' header & footer like this: [img]
your image location [/img]
You can add an image from anywhere on your PC or off any web address. If it
is on your PC the image will be uploaded to the ASTRA server.
Below the posting text entry area is a section that allows you to attach a
file. Enter the file location here as an alternate to using the 'img'
button.”

Joe Stieber wrote:
“To use the [img] tag, the picture has to be on the web, so it will have an "http://..." address. To add a picture from your hard drive, like your Google Earth street view of the area on Rt 539, you need to use the "Upload attachment" function, which is just below the editing window. Use the "Preview" button to make sure things are coming out like you expect.”

Yet another eclipse map. Jersey will have an okay view, which is important for paupers who may not be able to travel for that auspicious day.

Keep in mind that a total solar eclipse is much more spectacular than a partial solar eclipse. In New Jersey the August 21, 2017 solar eclipse will be partial.

Touch New Stamp and Presto, Total Solar Eclipse Becomes Moon

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/27/scie ... stamp.html

Quote:
Just touch the stamp with your finger, and the heat transforms the image of the blacked-out sun into the moon. Remove your finger, and the eclipse reappears. The trick is using temperature-sensitive ink.

Similarly, Earth's elevation can have a surprisingly large effect on the visibility of the eclipse — if you're near the edge of the shadow, the elevation can lift you out of it or into it based on the angle of the sun and moon.

Strange Peruvian Pyramid Has Link to Solar Eclipses

http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2017/06/s ... -eclipses/

Quote:
During the 16th century, four total solar eclipses occurred in the Nepeña Valley of Peru in a span of just 22 years and Peruvians were so excited, they watched them from inside a pyramid shaped like a volcano.

The last total solar eclipse in the United States was in 1979. Here is the excellent live TV coverage from ABC News.

Yeah, it should be "Laws of Physics" not "Laws of Science". Complain in their comments, not here. I didn't write the article.
