Well, winter showed up in time for this star party. It was cold but we were enveloped in beautiful clear skies. There was a beautiful featherlike cloud in the sky I snapped a picture of it with my phone.(see below) The people could resist wanting to see the two bright objects in the sky..Jupiter and Venus. Even before dark they put on a good show. The first item I looked at was M42. It looked spectacular with the trapezium glistening in it's midst. We saw 2-3 meteors. The gator NGC 7160 was unimpressive. NGC 457 the dragonfly looked great as did the double cluster. A few people brought their scopes and needed help setting them up.The park was wonderful with no lights and a nice parking lot to set up in. We had some interesting visitors last night especially one little girl who was about 4 years old going on 40.Everyone was gone except John and I we woulld have liked to stay but felt sorry for the staff so we decided to pack up. Before we shut down John had an old eyepiece he wanted to try. We looked at some items through it and low and behold 2 new groups of people showed up. So we had star party #2. Overall it was a great evening. We will definitely use this park again.
