Here is some information that I obtained at the Northeast Astronomy Forum yesterday:

Did you know that.........

When observing though an eyepiece........

if have an astigmatism in the eye that you use for observing and you take off your glasses, the image you see may not be as sharp as it could be?

The Dioptrx from Tele Vue (about $90) is an eyepiece accessory that corrects this problem:

http://www.optcorp.com/pdf/TeleVue/TVDioptrx.pdf

According to this article, the Dioptrx can be "jury-rigged" to fit eyepieces other than those from Tele Vue.

Matthew,

You can have your signature added automatically to your posts. Go to the User Control Panel (the link is at the bottom right of the banner at the top of the page). Select Edit Signature to set up the signature you wish to use. Then select Board Preferences and then Edit Posting Defaults, and click the button to add your signature automatically. You also have the option of toggling the signature attachment in the check boxes below the message editing window.

Joe,
Thanks for the directions. If there is a signature here, I did it correctly. If not, I'll keep trying.

Bill,
Yep, 1.00 diopter.
I ordered one at the NEAF and am waiting for it to come in the mail. I look forward to your impressions. I plan to be at Jakes Branch on the evening of Astronomy Day.
